Collaboration: Machine + Lea Loo

Getting the chance to collaborate with other creatives is one of my favorite parts about being a designer. Fashion opens the door for so many different people to come together and make magic. When I was approached by Lea Loo, a talented emerging graphic designer here in Portland, I jumped at the chance to work with her.

Lea designed a graphic pattern as part of her senior portfolio at Portland State University. She asked if I would create a garment for her using the custom fabric she had made. Rather than giving me specific directions for the type of garment she wanted, Lea let me have free reign with her textile. After doing some sketches I finally decided on a boxy blouse that would incorporate some color blocking, and an exposed zipper in the back to add a little edge.

After a fitting and some alterations, the final garment was ready. Lea wore her new top to her final portfolio review and looked pretty badass. Lea's style and taste blend perfectly with the Machine aesthetic and I'm looking forward to collaborating with her on future projects. Keep an eye out!
